Whitfield Village Hall

All the new plumbing work has now been completed and 2 new combination boilers installed. As this replumbing work had to be done to avoid any further problems with the old underfloor pipework we took the opportunity to reorganise the system to provide a quicker supply of hot water to the wash basins in the toilets (this was previously supplied by the boiler in the kitchen – a very long pipe-run). Whitfield Gardeners Society

We are now well into our 2015 programme, held a very successful Spring Show in April and have already enjoyed some  informative and entertaining speakers at our monthly meetings. These are held on the second Monday of each month at 7.30pm in the Village Hall and details of each months meeting will be included in the Parish Councils monthly Newsletter and in the Quarterly issues of the Whitfield News. Living Well Church News

It’s an exciting time at Living Well Church as we have just launched our second service on a Sunday Evening at 7pm. This is in addition to our Morning Service at 11am which will continue unchanged. The extra service has been added as the Morning Service was getting close to capacity and we wanted to create more space for new attenders. On Saturday 4th July from 10am to 1pm, we will be holding our second Community Fun Day in partnership with the Community Covenant Grant. Whitfield Evening WI May Meeting

This was our Resolution meeting, during which we discussed the motion: Failure to Care Assessment of Need in Long Term Care The WI requests the government to ensure that health needs and social needs are assessed and funded together, rather than at the present, where health needs are funded by the NHS and social needs are funded by Social services. This results in a lack of continuity and many people not receiving appropriate care. Afternoon WI Meetings Report

All our meetings and events since the last report have gone well. The last Quiz Evening was a great success. The next Quiz is on the 23rd.October. We celebrated our 79th Birthday as a W I . on March 11th. We especially enjoyed the lovely chocolate cake made by Jill. We are now looking forward to the Summer Programme. There is the Annual Strawberry Tea in June. The August outing is not definite yet. We were going on a trip on the Regents Park Canal but that needed an 8am departure which did not prove very popular.
