Afternoon WI – July 2016

Another few months and again new members to welcome. All prearranged plans have worked out well. The Festive Committee provided an excellent Strawberry Tea in June. In the Crochet Competition, Janet and Wendy gained 2nd and 3rd place respectively. Well Done. In July, Janet Dean gave us a very interesting talk .We were rather expecting the talk “My Grandmother was a Spy” to be a humorous account but in fact, Janet Dean’s grandmother really was an important source of information for the forces in the war. July 2016 – Craft and Home Economics Report

CRAFT AND HOME ECONOMICS REPORT JULY 2016. (PART OF THE WI) We had our July meeting on Wednesday 27th and our speaker was Eileen Jennings talking about her walk to Santiago de Compostela. This was a very good talk and you missed a superb meeting. She made us laugh in the right places, but she was also very frank and entertaining. We have a Christmas Lunch in December at the Dover Marina Hotel in Dover planned. Our next meeting will be on WednesdayAugust 24th 2016. At the Village Hall in Whitfield, at 2pm. Dover Flower Club

Each Month we have either a demonstration or workshop, where you will be able to participate. We are a very friendly club and a warm welcome awaits anyone who may be interested in flowers or art. This month (June) we have a demonstrator, so sit back and enjoy an evening’s entertainment with Patricia Ellis, her demonstration title is “Do it with Passion”. Summer is nearly over…

..and Autumn well on its way. It is official that on September 22nd all the leaves will suddenly turn brown and fall off the trees. They gather themselves together and make their way mysteriously around Whitfield over night finally coming to rest on my drive… Well all I can say is; I wish money did grow on trees because autumn would be the best season ever! Craft and Home Economics Report – September 2015

This months meeting was very interesting. I think everybody was eager to hear what the speaker had to say. The speaker was Tony Harris, telling us of his life as a film star. He told us of the acting he did while living in Whitstable and the day Whitstable was made famous. He kept us all wondering what would come next in the story. He showed us slides, and spoke very clearly, and was very very funny. All the action is captured in a real film. Before the speaker, Gloria informed us of any up and forth coming news...
